Who We Are:
The San Jose Highly Gifted Magnet Center gives children of extraordinary intelligence an opportunity to learn, grow and develop to their maximum potential in an age appropriate setting. Children that are highly gifted are each unique individuals. Often these children are so creative and innovative that not only do they think “outside the box,” they don’t even realize that there is a “box.” We, at the San Jose Highly Gifted Magnet Center, seek to provide an environment where these children can develop their amazing intelligence and talents and acquire the necessary fundamentals for using them in today’s real world.
Among factors that parents consider in selecting a school is the API score. Like other magnets within resident schools, only one score is reported for the entire school. For the school year ending 2007, we were able to separate out the score for the magnet and came in at a perfect 1000! The overall 2009 API score for the entire school was a respectable 801.
We are extremely proud to announce that our fourth grade teacher, Ms Garcia, is a 2010 recipient of the coveted BRAVO award. Winners of the 28th Annual Bravo Awards were announced on March 3, 2010 at an awards ceremony in the Grand Hall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The BRAVO program honors teachers and schools for exemplary education in the arts and showcases the hard work and dedication these educators have given to their students, their profession and their communities.
